Works for Me – Why I Love IKEA!

works-for-me.jpg

There are so many reasons why I love IKEA.  If you have never shopped at an IKEA, let me just tell ya–it’s a shopping paradise!  But my latest discovery at IKEA is one of my favorites of all time.

Reusable Shopping Bags.

These are no ordinary bags, mind you.  They are H-U-G-E!  They are durable!  They are only 59¢!  That’s right, ladies and gentleman, 59¢.  My local grocery store now sells reusable bags, but they are ¼ the size and cost 40¢ more.  That’s just wrong.  I take my IKEA bags with me to the store and have the bagger use them for pantry items, toiletries and other non-perishable items.  I never use them for meat, dairy, or anything else that could soil the bags, because, let’s face it, I’m not going to take the time to clean them.  I also use normal plastic bags for heavy items.  These IKEA bags are a great inexpensive, eco-friendly solution.

I can’t seem to find these bags on the IKEA website, so they may only be available at the store.  They also sell bags that are more fashionable that you can purchase online or in the stores for $1.50, still a great deal.  But for the money, my bags can’t be beat!

First off, adorable picture! I have one of those bags too and I love it. Although, I think sometimes I overload it. Good idea to just use it for pantry items.

I love IKEA to, it was one of the reasons I was so excited about moving to MD. Now I have 2 IKEA stores to chose from!

  4. I used to live right down the street from IKEA, a mile away in Woodbridge. Now in Nashville there is none. :-(

    But there is the Internet.

Your little girl is precious. The bag is nice sized, and so blue you could never lose it either. But IKEA is a long way from here. Someday maybe.

    Lilibeth and Robin,
I live an hour+ from my nearest IKEA, but I’ll be happy to get a bag for you the next time I’m there and mail it to you! Let me know if you’re seriously interested.

    happyhousewife,
I don’t know what I would do with myself with 2 IKEA stores nearby! How do you control yourself?!?

    Jane,
Thanks for the compliment! I think the idea to only use the bag for pantry items came when I overloaded it once and couldn’t lift it out of the cart! Have to be careful with canned goods, as well.

    Kathy,
I’m sure my husband is grateful our nearest IKEA store is an hour away!!

    That’s a massive shopping bag!

We drove past an IKEA that was having its grand opening last week, and we couldn’t stop (it was smack in the middle of our 12-hour drive). I was so sad!

I took my IKEA bag into Target the other day and handed it to the young man at the register. At first he tried to scan it….No, I said, it’s my bag. He finally understood what to do with it…LOL! I LOVE my bags…I also use them to take to the beach, for library books, I even used it for wet snow clothes when we went to a friends for a snowy play day. They are absolutely great!
And that bag is just one of the MANY reasons I love Ikea! ;)
