I love what Brody is doing on Tuesdays, so I thought I would take the opportunity to brag on someone.

Many of you may know Kat from her informative and always entertaining blog, The Secret Life of Kat.  I feel privileged to call her my friend.  Here are some great things I love about her.

Fun
One of my favorite memories with Kat is from our college days.  We spent a few hours rollerblading around campus and talking in British accents.  Not sure what possessed us to do that, but it was fun.  Even today, I see the youthful spirit in Kat and it’s endearing.  She is mature enough to know that it’s okay to enjoy life.  Whether it’s making homemade ice cream with her kids (even though it ends up being more expensive than buying a gallon of Blue Bell) or riding her scooter with the girls, Kat knows how to smile and soak in the simple pleasures of life.

Servant
Whether it’s around her house, in our small group or on her blogs, Kat is a servant.  She gives of herself, her time, her giftings and her love to those around her.  She daily serves her family with a loving heart, not grumbling and complaining.  Even on her bad days, which she will admit she has, Kat is able to smile and keep her heart in check because she knows that what she does for her kids and how she lives in front of them can impact eternity.  She lives to make a difference to those around her and to the world, and is willing to lay her life down for the things she believes in.

Content
I don’t know many people who are truly content with their lives, myself included.  Kat is one of the few.  She is truly content with where God has her right now.  Living in a culture like ours, it’s easy to lose focus and get caught up with trying to “keep up” with the neighbors.  Kat doesn’t live like that.  She is at peace with her life, grateful for all that God has given and content to be where He has planted her.  She isn’t always looking for “the next thing.”  That says a lot.  I love to be around her because of this.  She helps me keep life in perspective.

Discontent
This may sound like the complete opposite of what I just described, but let me explain.  I have often heard Kat say things like, “I never want to stop growing,” or “I don’t want to be the same when I’m 80 years old.”  While content with her life, Kat wants to grow, learn, improve.  She doesn’t want to grow stale or stagnant with where she is in life.  She is open to everything that God has for her and doesn’t want to settle for anything less.  I love that about her.

Genuine
The Kat that you know on her blog really is who she is in real life.  She is true to the core.  No pretention.  No prideful boasting of life.  What you see is what you get.  And yet, she is one of the most positive friends I have.  That, too, is genuine.  We have conversations about living our lives for God and His higher purposes, and I see her walk it out in her daily life.  She orchestrates her life around the goals she has set for herself and lives a prioritized life.  What she says and how she lives actually coincide.  That’s how I want to be.

I’m sure she’ll be surprised that I wrote this post, but all of it is true.  I admire her so much and consider her one of my most cherished friends.

Be blessed today, Kat!

And to complete the cheesy (but honest) show of affection, here’s a song to bring it home. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.)
